What is happening in this session?

Raising competent, healthy and successful children requires us to parent the children we have, not the children we wish we had, and to do that, we need to see, hear, and understand who they are now as well as whom they hope to become. The benefits of raising kids for whom they are range from improved mental health outcomes to a reduced risk of substance use and addiction.

In this talk, you can expect to learn about:

  • The science behind fostering and defining childhood well-being and identity
  • The impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on lifelong physical and mental health; How to connect and increase bonds with the children we have
  • How strengthening a sense of identity and self-efficacy reduces the risk of negative life outcomes and increases the chance of a wide range of positive life outcomes
